Dates and Attendance
The fifth edition of the course will start Monday, September 24th and will end November 20th 2007 with an attendance of three days a week.

Teaching Staff
Lessons will be given by academic lecturers of University Politecnico di Milano and professionals specialised in technical topics.

Guided Visits to New Entertainment venues
Parallel to the lessons there will be guided visits to the most representative new entertainment venues in Milan.

Course Content
The course will focus on the complexity of the project: interior design, ambience creation, furniture, new role played by light and sound technologies.

In particular, lessons will deal mainly with the following topics:

- New trends in the entertainment phenomena in Italy and Europe

- Interior design and atmospheres for night entertainment spaces

- Furniture & New Entertainment

- Strategic design for the entertainment

- Interior design and customers behaviour

- Materials, lights, colours: the emotional aspect in public venues

- Fixtures and fittings, regulations and security in night venues

- The role of nightlife in youth trends

- Night venues seen from the bar counter: design between ergonomics and consumption

- Lighting in night venues: special effects and light messages for new atmospheres

- Sound for the new entertainment: acoustics and sonorization

- Social changes and territory: the new entertainment from a sociological point of view

- From DJ bars to beach clubs: furniture and design in night venues

From project to realisation
The course will be integrated by a project work that will be supervised by teachers and will focus on a real location in Milan and the main phases of its refurbishment into a night venue.
